BeeNet Project

Healthy bees mean a healty environment

BeeNet – monitoring the environment through bees and biodiversity is a scientific research project which monitors bees all over Italy, in order to define the qualitative conditions of the agro-environment we live in. BeeNet uses two monitoring networks which provide an overview of the bees’ world and the environment they inhabit. One network is based on honey bees, the other on monitoring wild bees.

BeeNet is funded by the National Rural Network of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies (2014 – 2020 funding) and is run by the Agriculture and Environment Centre of CREA (Council for Research and Economic Analysis in Agriculture ).

The mission of the Agricolture and Environment Centre of CREA (CREA-AA) is to monitor and manage efficiently the natural resources for sustainable and innovative agricolture.

The BeeNet project is coordinated by the "Apidology" sector of CREA-AA, a research team specializing in the study of honey bees and wild bees, based in Bologna, Italy
